Just B. Jordan was born in Oregon in 1994. As a young child she struggled to learn how to read and write. It was a great source of frustration to her, so she strongly disliked anything to do with words or literature.
Despite this, she was always telling herself stories. It was inevitable she eventually fall prey to the charms of reading. (But to this day spelling remains her worst subject.)
Jordan never considered writing down her stories. They were made for her entertainment, and telling them to anyone else felt invasive.
Her mother once said, “You could be an author.” Jordan’s reply was, “No. Sitting down for hours on end would drive me crazy.”
This explains her insanity. ;)
At the age of 16 Jordan decided it was time to choose what she was going to do with her life. After six months of deliberation, she came to a decision. She was already spending most of her time in fantasy worlds. It only made sense to make a career out of something she enjoyed.
So, without ever having written anything outside of school assignments, she went out and spent most of her savings on a laptop. A month later she had the first 50,000 words of what would become Never to Live.
(You can add it on Goodreads here)
Jordan received her first publishing contract at the age of 18. After some major edits, Never to Live was published by Marcher Lord Press (now Enclave Publishing).
Jordan first tried her hand at script writing in 2019, when Ambition Pictures asked her to help with some re-writes on Mount Adams. She is now credited as a contributing writer on the film.
They then hired her to write their next film. Life Cycle 63, which is based on one of her award-winning short stories, is now in post-production. It stars names like Adrian Paul from Highlander, Bruce Locke from Mortal Kombat & Man in the High Castle, Ted Rooney from Gilmore Girls and Stark Trek, and Robert Catrini from Jack Reacher and Birds of Prey.
She has also started a short story podcast that you can find here.
When not writing Sci-fi or fantasy novels and screenplays, Jordan also writes non-fiction. You can find her Practical Puppy Bootcamp series under the pen name “Jordan Wade,” and she recently started the adventure of writing her own wine blog, From Bud to Barrel.
When not writing Jordan enjoys working with dogs, exploring the outdoors, and occasionally making costumes.
