Surprise! Today I have a sci-fi flash fiction piece, Ocean Sky, published with Havok!
I watched one of my beta readers read this one. When he reached the twist, he got this horribly confused/surprised expression on his face and said, “Wait, what? —–? How?” And kept reading. It made me laugh. I hoped that twist would be unexpected!
Betas and editors liked this one. It’s different. It’s like a mix of the world from Universal Studio’s live Waterworld show and bits of the the “science” (or magic) from Patema Inverted and Mistborn. A curios mix, but it works!
