The Imperfect Expressions Podcast – EI BTS

Today the Imperfect Expressions podcast goes live! I’m going to be sharing some behind-the-scenes and original concept art below, but first, here are the details about the podcast in case you haven’t heard. :)

Imperfect Expressions is an audiobook/audio-drama style podcast featuring scif-fi/fantasy flash fiction and short stories. Currently each episode is 7-20 minutes long.

I have been working with artists from all over the world to create 1-4 incredible images to go along with each episode! And an extra-cool thing – we have turned these images into 3D motion pictures!

There will be a staggered release of Season One which consists of 6 episodes.

The first episode, Small Hours, is up on my YouTube channel!

After the first few episodes are out on YouTube, they will all be made available on Podcast platforms (audio only, no art)

Now on to the behind-the-scenes!

I started working on creating Imperfect Expressions this spring. Shortly after the pandemic broke out. Around the same time I also started creating a new facet of my small business, wrote and submitted two shorts for publication, learned a new craft and started working on a still-secret project, navigated the first 6 months of marriage, fought wildfires that threatened our families’ homes… phew. Dang. It has been a whirlwind of a year.

So. With all the bad happening in 2020, I’m incredibly happy to be launching Imperfect Expressions. I hope it will be a little bit of good in a few people’s lives.

There were a lot of delays. I originally wanted to launch in July, but here we are.

When I posted the job for an artist for this first episode, I did not expect to get the fantastic talent of Juni Frio of Frio Concepts. They worked on The Last of Us Part II. If you know that game, you know this artist is seriously talented. (and if you’re looking for an artist, I %100 recommend Juni)

With that said, here is one of the original blocking images he sent me while working on the art for Small Hours. I thought these were so cool, and knew I could look forward to some incredible final art in the future. I was so excited.

Which thumbnail is your favorite? Do you think I chose the right one? :)

And didn’t the final image turn out beautiful?

That’s all for now, but Episode II comes out on October 26th! Some of you may have read Sun Eater before, but get ready to experience it in an all-new way. :)

Signing off until next time,
